RUSSIAN JEWISH MUSEUM & CENTRE FOR TOLERANCE, MOSCOW
Project context
The Federation of Jewish Communities Russia commissioned the development of this new museum to be based in Moscow - the first Jewish Museum in Russia.
The project aimed to connect Russian Jews with their heritage and the religion they had not been permitted to practice for many years, to enable non-Jews to understand something of Judaism and its history, and to encourage discussions about tolerance between communities.
Role
I developed the content approach for the new museum in collaboration with colleagues across RAA's London and New York offices. I wrote the concept study which was used to fundraise and garner support for the project.
In a subsequent phase I sourced academics in Russia, America and Israel to form an advisory committee and co-facilitated workshops to develop the content further.
Impact
This work formed the underpinnings for the museum's content development and its design development. The museum opened in 2012.
