'MAKING DON GIOVANNI', ROYAL OPERA HOUSE

Project context

The Royal Opera House (ROH) wanted to change its approach to the style and content of exhibitions in its front of house spaces, to reveal more of its creative processes and connect to a wider audience.

Role

Devorah acted as Project Manager and Content Developer for this temporary exhibition celebrating the creative talent behind an opera production. This involved collaborating with the stage designer for the ROH's production of Don Giovanni, Es Devlin, and stage video designer, Luke Halls. Challenges included projection mapping onto replica costumes inside showcases without fixing to the listed building.

Impact

The exhibition was well received by ROH and its audiences - it set the tone for a new approach to the foyers which will continue with the Open Up project.

The end result is a really strong visual narrative that has never been achieved before in a Royal Opera House exhibition.
